Christy Miller Series

It all began with the Christy Miller Series. Robin spent eight years writing about Christy, Todd and the rest of the gang before starting the spinoff Sierra Jensen  Series. After thousands of readers wrote to ask, “Do Todd and Christy ever get married?” Robin wrote the College Years Series. Readers then wanted to know if Katie and Rick ended up together so Robin kept writing about all these characters in the Katie Weldon Series. The second Christy Miller story, “A Whisper and a Wish,” was a Gold Medallion finalist.

Will there be more stories about Christy and the gang? Robin says,
“You just never know."

CHRISTY MILLER, KATIE WELDON, SIERRA JENSEN AND FRIENDS

WHAT READERS ARE SAYING:

Christy Miller Books

How can I say this?  I LOVE YOUR CHRISTY MILLER BOOKS! Seriously! You have no idea how much these books have changed my life. I got the first book from my grandmother and for a long time I didn’t read it because I used to hate to read. Then I got strep throat and I had to stay in bed a week. I was so bored I pulled your book out from under my bed and my whole life went KABOOM!  You know the part in the book where Christy prays and gives her life to Christ?  Well, I prayed right along with her and I surrendered my whole life to Him, too. I know I am a different person now. I’ve read all your Christy Miller books and am just starting on the Sierra Jensen books. Please don’t ever stop writing! You are like a voice in the darkness at my school now because I have all my friends reading your books!  All of us started praying for our “Todd.” We love you! Keep writing!

Sierra Jensen Books

My daughter and I devoured the Sierra Jensen Series together, which gave us topics to discuss. She even has reread them!  We ended up crying and laughing through each one. Thank you for writing books that moms can trust with believable characters, and real situations.  We appreciate your honesty and candid manner that keep us yearning for more.

College Years

As I read this next series of Todd and Christy's story in the College Years I was SO very impacted. I not only learned how much I am loved by the Lord, I also learned the importance of keeping myself pure for my future husband, whoever he is. I don't know that I would be where I am with my walk with the Lord without Todd and Christy's story. You have changed the way I view myself and how I view God. Thank you SO much.

Katie Weldon

I walked into my Christian bookstore today, looking for a CD, and out of the corner of my eye I saw the book, Peculiar Treasures. I stopped, picked it up, realized you’d written a series about Katie and I burst into tears there in the aisle!  I was so embarrassed, but you see, I grew up with Christy and Sierra and those books changed my life. God used those books to bring me into His Kingdom. I am 23 years old now and a leader in the high school youth group at my church and I’m always reminding the girls how they are “Peculiar Treasures,” like Christy and Katie were in the Christy Miller books. I can’t wait to read all the books about Katie. I think she might be my favorite character in all the teen books. She’s so real. Thank you so much for writing these stories. You have no idea how much God has used them to change many hearts in my generation.

Discussion Questions for Summer Promise

1.     At the beginning of the story, Christy puts herself down because of her looks. Why do you think Christy has a poor view of herself (pg. 9-11)?

2.    Christy feels her thoughts come out clearer when she writes them down (pg. 14).  Can you relate to her?  How do you express yourself best?

3.    Christy’s parents made her promise that she wouldn’t do anything on her summer trip that she would regret later (pg. 15).  What do you think they meant by that?  Why is it important that Christy honor this promise?

4.    Uncle Bob says (pg. 19), “To thine own self be true” to Christy, and Aunt Marti tells Christy (pg. 22) she's only going to make it if she takes control of her own destiny. Do you agree with Bob? With Marti? Why or why not?

5.    If you had an Aunt Marti who offered to take you shopping for the day and give you a make-over would you want to go with her or not?  Why?

6.    Christy dreams that she’s being pulled deep into the ocean (pg. 32). What could her dream symbolize? How do Shawn’s experiences and choices reflect this nightmare?  Be sure to discuss Todd’s illustration about the boat and Hawaii (pg. 103) and how it applies to Christy’s dream.

7.    Christy spends a few moments watching TV in her uncle’s study (pg. 49-50). How does the show with the pickle and sardine ice cream cone foreshadow what is to come in the chapter? How does it apply to the promise Christy made to her parents?

8.    When Alissa calls Christy and asks her to come over to help her pack, Christy glimpses Alissa’s real life and realizes it’s not as perfect as she thought (pg. 123). Were you as surprised about Alissa’s life as Christy seemed to be? Have you ever looked up to someone and found out she isn’t whom she appeared to be?

9.    What qualities do you think a group of God-lovers would possess (pg. 173)? What’s the first step you would need to take to start a group of God-lovers?

10.    How do you think Christy’s summer at Bob and Marti’s changed her? List at least three ways

Sierra Jensen Series

Sierra Jensen is definitely one of a kind.

Living in artsy, eclectic Portland, Sierra can be found shopping at vintage thrift stores with Amy and Vicki, volunteering at the homeless shelter, writing letters to Paul in Scotland and hanging out with Randy and the guys in his band. Sierra's friendship with Christy and Katie continues until the three of them end up together at college. What a whirl, this Sierra girl!

Katie Weldon Series

Katie Weldon, Christy Miller's best friend, caught the bouquet at Christy's wedding. But wedding bells aren't on their way for her just yet. First she's got to choose a major she wants at college. Then she has to think about accepting an RA position in the dorms. AND then Katie has to wonder about her relationship with Rick Doyle, her not exactly boyfriend because they haven't discussed labels yet.
